STOP PRESS: OUR NEW PROGRAMME IS OUT FOR 2008/2009!

Who we are

We are a large group of people based in Beverley, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, who are essentially mad about all things French! Our aim is to promote the French language and culture and spend time with others who share our enthusiasm for this beautiful country. Some members own property in France and the rest of us can only dream. Most of us holiday there as often as possible and share our experiences and tips within the group.

What we do

We organise the majority of our guest speakers through the Alliance Française to whom we are affliliated. Other events are planned throughout the year with a French theme such as, food and wine tastings, films and we hold our very popular Annual Dinner at a local restaurant. If you haven't been to the society for a while you'll be pleasantly surprised at a few changes we've made, it's much more informal and friendly and there are more opportunities to speak French rather than listen to someone else doing it! Where we meet

We meet at St Mary's Parish Hall, Beverley, about 10 times per year which is adjacent to St Mary's Church on North Bar Within, opposite the Beverley Arms Hotel. Click here for a map of Beverley.

How much is it to join?

We have organised 10 meetings for 2008/2009, with a significant amount to include a glass of wine or 2 - The year's membership is just £16 and £5 per meeting for guests which will be deducted from your annual fee should you then wish to join. Please note the last meeting in June is not included in the membership fee and it will be a case of payment on an individual basis on the night.

Parlez-vous francais un petit peu?

Don't worry if your level of French isn't quite as good as you would like, we're of mixed ability and it's simply great to be amongst amis. So do contact us for further information and we hope to see you at the next meeting.
